Ko Lanta (Thailand)

Die Schneiderin und Designerin ist eine junge Thailänderin, die ihre Leidenschaft zum Beruf gemacht hat. Sie erzählt, dass es zu Beginn schleppend voran ging. Doch mit der Zeit hat sie neben einheimischen Kunden auch die Touristen für sich begeistern können. Die Materialien besorgt sie in der acht Stunden entfernten Stadt Krabi. Ihre Inspiration nimmt sie aus der thailändischen und indischen Kultur. Der Laden ist in zwei Bereiche aufgeteilt. Im Eingang hängen sorgfältig präsentiert die farbenfrohen Kleider, während im anderen Raum ein Chaos von Stofffetzen, Nähzeug und Schablonen herrscht.

The designer of these dresses is a young Thai woman who lives on the small island Ko Lanta in south Thailand. She turned her hobby into a profession. At the beginning it was quite hard, she says. But now she works not only for the local people, but also for tourists. She buys the materials in Krabi on the mainland, 8 hours away and gets her inspiration from the Thai and Indian culture. The shop is divided in two parts. The colorful dresses are presented at the entrance. The second room is more chaotic and full of materials, pieces of flashy clothes, velvet and tools. A beautiful mess!
